Kuyler joined MonetaGo after a successful tenure as the inaugural Managing Director of the International Chamber of Commerce's (ICC) Digital Standards Initiative (DSI), established in September 2020. The two-day visit gave participants insights into the South Africa SME landscape and the innovative solutions that FNB deployed to manage/grow their SME business and serve their SME clients. More specifically, the participants learned about: SME business revenue drivers Their portfolio performance, cost and NPL performance management The evolution of FNB's SME business, including their strategic shifts undertaken post COVID The role of technology, digital and alternate data Supply chain finance A lifecycle approach to SME banking and segmentation approaches Product bundling as well as customer experience management The Immersion Visit, attended by more than 25 senior executives from 12 member institutions across Africa and Asia, extended over two days period. On the first day, the focus was primarily on FNB internal operations as well as on understanding the South Africa’s macro, social and economic environments in which they operate. Participants had the opportunity to meet with FNB's CEO, Mr. Gordon Little, followed by a session led by their Chief Economist, Miss Mamello Matikina, and a detailed and comprehensive session with Miss Andiswa Bata, the Head of SME and with Mr. Gavin Tarr, head of working capital solution. Additionally, breakout sessions featured insights shared by various teams including Customer Experience and Product Development, Data Analytics, and the Head of Underserved and Financial Inclusion Segments. Luis defined and ran a project on GenAI 2020-2022 before the explosion of this technology in 2023 with significant contribution to the company's product offerings, revenue and valuation.    Pablo Zbinden, Head of Credit Business in Brazil - Mercado Libre Pablo has over 15 years of experience in the financial sector, he is a seasoned actuary who has dedicated his career to the credit business and risk management. Pablo's journey led him to start the credit operation in Mercado Libre, where from 2016 to 2021, He spearheaded the credit risk team. In 2021, he embraced a new challenge by taking on a leadership role in shaping the digital wallet strategy. Finally, since 2023 Pablo is at the helm of the credit operations for Brazil, leveraging his expertise to drive impactful decisions that contribute not only to the financial success but also to fostering financial inclusion in the region.     Burcu Küçükünal, Digital Design and Innovation SVP - Akbank Burcu joined Akbank in 2010 as Strategy Manager and was appointed as Vice President of Strategy in 2014, Senior Vice President of Strategy and Innovation in 2019. She is currently in charge of Digital Design and Innovation as SVP. Prior to joining Akbank, she worked in a bank and two different international consulting and technology companies. She has a BSc degree in Mathematics from Yildiz Teknik University and an MSc degree in Financial Engineering from Bogaziçi University. He is a recognized thought leader, featured speaker, and an industry mentor in SME Finance. Add to Calendar 2024-01-30 19:00:00 2024-01-30 19:00:00 AgriFinance Community of Practice 1st 2024 The SME Finance Forum has created a Community of Practice on Agrifinance, a group of AgriFinance experts and practitioners from member institutions, to discuss experiences and document good practices and innovations in the field. One main objective of this CoP was to promote learning and sharing of good practice examples that help members improve their offerings and better serve the Agri-SMEs. Target audience: SME Finance Forum members, IFC clients, and their guests. By way of background, the SME Finance Forum convenes the AgriFinance CoP meetings every quarter. These meetings are open only to members of the SME Finance Forum. The attendees are senior executives and practitioners from banks, fintech companies, DFIs, NBFIs, and credit guarantees, who operate in over 190 countries. Usually, the meetings have between 40-100 attendees.  Speakers to be announced soon. Chaired by Panos Varangis.  Panos Varangis is the Principal Operations Officer at the Financial Institutions Group, IFC. Before that Panos led IFC’s work in advising financial institutions to provide financial services to SMEs, agribusinesses, and farmers. Before joining IFC, Panos served as the Deputy CEO of the Agricultural Bank of Greece (2004-2009). From 1987 to 2004, he worked at the World Bank in various positions at the International Commodities Division, the International Trade Division, the Bank’s Research Department, and finally at the Agricultural and Rural Development Department, where he oversaw a global program on commodity risk management.
