Add to Calendar 2020-09-20 20:00:00 2020-09-20 20:00:00 Invitation to be featured in the Global SME Finance Forum 2020 – Fintech Pitch We are now accepting submissions for fintechs to be featured in the prestigious Fintech Pitch during this year’s Global SME Finance Forum 2020 Virtual Edition, 26-28 October. Traditionally, the Fintech Pitch is one of the most exciting features of the SME Finance Forum Annual Meeting, as 10 selected fintechs present their company and technology live onstage to the hundreds of senior industry experts and banks. To accommodate this year’s “Virtual Edition”, the ten selected entries will be featured as live recordings during the event, and all eligible submissions will be included in a “Virtual Marketplace” searchable by all event attendees at their leisure throughout the event and beyond.    We invite interested Fintech to submit their applications prior to September 21st 5PM EDT.    HOW TO APPLY    Interested fintechs should fill out a short application form available here.    Only submissions that include a link to a Vimeo or YouTube video presentation - with appropriate access rights for review and use by SMEFF – will be considered    GUIDELINES    Submissions should be a video of the company representative speaking to a presentation of slides, video footage, or actual product demo, as if the speaker were speaking live to an audience.     Submissions must not exceed 4 minutes in length. Videos that exceed the requested length will be cut at 4:00 minute without further notice.     Submissions should seek to highlight the real tangible benefit of the solution to improve SME access to finance. If practicable, the submission should speak to:  The details of the solution and use case for deployment.  Real images of the technology, for perspective.  Markets in which the solution is live or focused.  Plans for expanding deployment of the solution.  Opportunities for collaboration with banks or other industry participants.     KEY DATES    Deadline for submission of applications: September 21st 5PM Eastern Daylight Time    Fintech Pitch selection to be announced: October 12th     Actual presentations on 26th and 27th October (5 on each day)    JUDGING CRITERIA    The key objective of the Fintech Pitch is to share information with industry participants, highlighting technology solutions that are available to lenders to solve the real-world challenges impacting SME access to finance. Submissions will be reviewed by members of the SME Finance Forum and invited industry experts, who will consider the following criteria, among others:     Uniqueness & Innovation    Is the product or solution a new and cutting-edge innovation? How original is the idea compared to solutions that are currently in use?    Reach    What is the number of MSMEs positively affected by the product or solution, whether directly or indirectly, and within what timeframe?     Effectiveness & Impact    Did the project/product/service achieve its objectives and targets? What measures have been used to assess its success? What was the impact to your company and industry?    Dynamism & Scalability    How scalable is the product or solution to accommodate significant demand? How difficult is the implementation and support efforts for the product or solution? How flexible is the product or solution to broader adoption outside of its home country?     FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS    We have compiled some frequently asked questions to guide your submission process. Please read through all of them as they may answer many of your questions. If your question has not been answered, you can send an email requesting clarification.    Is participation in the Fintech Pitch open to anyone?    Yes, financial technology companies across the globe are invited and encouraged to apply. We welcome entries from across the spectrum of institutions of any size or maturity that are serving the SME sector!    On what basis will the 10 presentations be selected?    The key objective of the Fintech Pitch is to share information with industry participants, highlighting technology solutions that are available to lenders to solve the real-world challenges impacting SME access to finance. Submissions will be reviewed by members of the SME Finance Forum and invited industry experts, who will consider the following criteria, among others: Uniqueness & Innovation, Reach, Effectiveness & Impact, and Dynamism & Scalability.    We may consider to include sensitive information/data as part of our submission. Who will have access to our entry and how might this information be used?    We strongly encourage you to share only information and data which you are prepared to see in the public domain. Selected presentations will be presented in a “live” virtual setting during the Global Forum, and subsequently available on the SME Finance Forum website for later review by attendees. All submissions satisfying our eligibility requirements will be posted to the Virtual Marketplace, from which attendees can select to view at their own convenience.     Should we attach any documents to our entry?    No. Please only complete the application form and include the video link by Vimeo or YouTube.     What happens if my presentation is not selected for the Fintech Pitch?    All submissions satisfying our eligibility requirements will be posted to the Virtual Marketplace. An entrepreneur with over 30 years of experience in banking, payments and fintech, Nick Ogden is internationally recognised as the inventor of ecommerce, building the world’s first e-commerce store, the Wine Warehouse in 1994. Nick is the founder of ClearBank and serves as a main board director. ClearBank® is the first new UK clearing bank in 250 years. The most notable of these is WorldPay, which he launched in 1997. VCG became the UK’s first non-bank payments institution, in 2009.  Re-branded as Cashflows, it became the first European non-bank principal member of VISA and Mastercard and an agency bank under agreement with HSBC. Nick has been recognised for many industry awards including the UK Ernst and Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award, the Computer World Global IT Leaders award, the ID People Awards, the National Business Awards UK Entrepreneur of the Year, The EPA 2017 Payments Industry Contributor of the Year Award and the 2107 Banking Technology Tech Leadership Award. In addition to his ClearBank® roles, Nick is non-executive chairman, of ING backed Funding Options, a non-executive director of Visa® backed ShieldPay and Executive Chairman of Business.co.uk..   Sam Taussig is the Head of Global Policy at Kabbage, Atlanta, GA. Sam has worked in alternative credit space since he experienced how microcredit offered enterprising Zambians a sustainable path out of poverty. Since 2007, Sam has promoted alternative credit across Africa, South America, Asia, the Caribbean, and rural America with a variety of non-governmental organizations and the United Nations. Sam was exposed to policy and government relations work while helping small business owners navigate state and federal regulatory requirements at the Montana Community Development Corporation in Bozeman, MT. Before coming to Kabbage, Sam served as a special assistant to the Head of the United Nations in Indonesia working on upstream policy development using “big data”, project financing, political affairs, and bilateral diplomacy. Sam is responsible for Kabbage’s interactions with state, federal and foreign governments and community development organizations. He covers issues ranging from banking regulations to artificial intelligence, privacy, CRA, and corporate social responsibility.   Satyam Agrawal is the President ASEAN & Global Head of Financial Services at GlobalLinker. GlobalLinker is an AI powered platform ‘Building a Global Community of Digitized SMEs’ with a growing community of over 300,000 SMEs from over 150 countries. Satyam’s role at GlobalLinker is to partner with leading Banks and Corporations to transform the way SMEs are served. He is also responsible for enabling financial services to be offered to SMEs on the Platform in a contextual and personalized way. In his prior role as Managing Director and Head of Retail Business Banking for Asia Pacific at HSBC, Satyam was responsible for delivering the growth ambitions of HSBC in this segment. Satyam set up four new markets including China, India, Malaysia and Indonesia hiring over 400 people. Satyam delivered key digital proposition including Digital Lending, Partnership with a leading E-Commerce Platform and the ‘Fusion’ Brand which won HSBC the EuroMoney award for the Best SME bank for 2019. Prior to HSBC, Satyam was the Global Head of Products for Retail Assets and Business Banking at Standard Chartered Bank overseeing 20 Countries.     About the discussant Lesly Goh is a Senior Advisor, former World Bank Director, and Chief Technology Officer. She is a Fellow at Cambridge Centre for Alternative Finance (CCAF) Judge Business School and Senior Fellow at National University of Singapore (NUS) Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy. Lesly is a Professor of Practice at ZheJiang International Business School (ZIBS).  She frequently gives lectures on Data Governance, FinTech and Digital Government Transformation. Her expertise is in leveraging Cloud technology to deliver agile solutions at scale for Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) at the intersection of technology and policy frameworks.  For almost 30 years, her experience on FinTech, RegTech, GovTech spans across both the private and public sectors.  Lesly’s experience covers a broad spectrum ranging from Capital Markets, Retail Banking, Commercial Banking, Asset Management, Development Banks and Financial Data Providers.  She has worked extensively on the practical application of Disruptive Technology such as Blockchain, AI and IoT. A few strategic initiatives where she applied Disruptive Technology to address Development challenges: Implementation of Bond issuance on Blockchain, which raised 110M AUD on Aug 23, 2018.
