The Forum’s extensive 240+ global network, crowds in financial institutions, fintech companies, development banks, policymakers, and industry experts from across the globe, fostering collaboration, knowledge sharing, and partnership building on a global scale. Hence, the Global SME Finance Awards has evolved into a pinnacle of global recognition for those making a real impact in the SME finance landscape. Since its launch in 2018, The Awards recognize and celebrate the outstanding achievements of financial service providers in delivering exceptional products and services to scale SME finance in their respective markets. It provides an opportunity for institutions to highlight and share good practices, impact, knowledge, and be recognized amongst the global peer group of world leaders in SME finance and services. We are rolling out a series of Information Sessions during the 2024 Awards Season to share with Financial Service Providers (FSPs) and Industry Stakeholders the role and importance of The Awards in showcasing remarkable achievements and impact in the industry. The sessions also aim to provide information on the application process, respective awards categories, and related information on the awards. Speakers include industry leaders and practitioners from the Forum’s global network, as well as past applicants and winners. The 2nd in the series, this information session will focus on the Product Innovation of the Year category, its role, importance, and value to Financial Service Providers (FSPs). Winners and applicants from prior years will also discuss their innovations, impacts, and application experience. The session will include a moderated Q&A to address specific questions from entrants. It will explore how central banks and regulators can significantly influence this transition, despite traditionally not being involved in talent development. As new skills become increasingly crucial, these institutions are presented with both the opportunity to lead in shaping these capabilities and the challenge of adapting to this new role in the evolving industry landscape.   The roundtable discussion will be divided into 3 sessions:   Part 1: Risks and Opportunities of Changing Skills in the Industry This session will discuss how the evolving industry landscape is driving a shift in skill requirements, examining the potential risks and opportunities this presents from the perspectives of central banks and regulators.   Part 2: The Roles of Central Banks/Regulators in Upskilling and Reskilling Historically, upskilling and reskilling have not been central to the missions of most central banks, but today, many are taking a proactive stance. This session will delve into participants' views on the evolving role of these institutions in workforce development.   Part 3: Best Practices for Upskilling/Reskilling Participants will share successful case studies and lessons learned to formulate actionable strategies for central banks and regulators. Add to Calendar 2024-04-29 20:00:00 2024-04-29 20:00:00 Retos y Oportunidades para el financiamiento sostenible de MIPYMES en LAC Desde la IFC Green Banking Academy (LAC), en coordinación con el SME Finance Forum, les invitamos al octavo encuentro de la Segunda Edición de la Green Banking Webinar Series dónde exploraremos, de la mano de representantes del sector financiero regional, los retos y las oportunidades que el financiamiento sostenible para MIPYMES trae al sector en Latinoamérica y el Caribe. Las micro, pequeñas y medianas empresas (MIPYMEs) son motores clave para el desarrollo económico y la innovación, elementos fundamentales, a su vez, para la transición hacia una economía más sostenible alrededor del mundo. Hoy en día, estas empresas representan el 90% de las compañías a nivel global y generan 9 de cada 10 nuevos empleos en economías emergentes.   En América Latina, las MIPYMEs constituyen la mayor parte del tejido productivo, representando el 60% del empleo formal registrado. No obstante, a pesar de su importancia, enfrentan dificultades para acceder a financiamiento, lo que limita su crecimiento y sus esfuerzos para ser sostenibles a largo plazo. Según estimaciones de IFC, la brecha de financiamiento para MIPYMEs en la región asciende a USD 1.2 billones, la segunda más grande después de la región de Asia-Pacífico.   En este contexto, las instituciones financieras (IFs) juegan un papel crucial a la hora de cerrar la brecha financiera de las MIPYMEs y permitir una transición verde y justa, siendo las finanzas sostenibles aquellas que también les permiten ampliar sus carteras y diversificar sus bases de inversionistas en sectores como la agricultura, el textil, el turismo y la manufactura.   Acompáñanos el próximo martes 30 de abril para conocer a partir de las experiencias compartidas por protagonistas del sector financiero, los retos y las oportunidades que ofrece el financiamiento sostenible para MIPYMES en nuestra región.   SME FINANCE FORUM ronyg@panapps.co America/New_York public

Add to Calendar 2024-04-25 20:00:00 2024-04-25 20:00:00 High Level Working Group on: Long Term Finance for SMEs in Europe In 2022, about 24.3 million SMEs were active in the EU-27 providing more than half of the economy value added and more than 65% of the employment (84.9 million people). Their common challenges are related to the idiosicracy of the EU framework setup (that includes common regulation, Banking Union, ECB, ESMA and same competition practice). Focusing on solving problems of SME long term funding within this established framework may inspire other non EU, European countries and the rest of the adjacent world.   The objective of the working group is to create a network of high level experts and practitioners who are committed to share knowledge and experiences to solve the problems that European  SMEs face in accessing long term finance.   Outcomes and lessons learned from this working group are expected to be relevant, useful and replicable to other regions. This network is intended to have a multi-year collaborative agenda with bi-annual meetings and concrete outcomes, to be jointly determined by members of the network. Meeting of the working group are governed by Chatham house rules. Every participant may express their personal opinion which does not necessarily represent the views of their institutions.   All participants shall represent all key stakeholders especially SME financiers and regulatory agencies. They shall have diverse relevant backgrounds and have knowledge related to the topics  of the discussions. Members of the network are expected to: identify innovative solutions to the problems, and jointly define a collaborative agenda for the next steps.   This meeting is by invitation only.
